Fund Your Retirement Now
Let me ask you a simple question.
Will you have enough money to fund an enjoyable lifestyle retirement?
If you're relying on a pension or government welfare, the answer is no.
If you're relying on a superannuation fund of less than a million dollars, the answer is probably no.
These are some of the reasons so many retirees are turning to alternative sources of income, such as driving for rideshare companies like Uber or Lyft. But this has serious problems. There's a better way. More enjoyable and much more rewarding.

Why Not to Be a Rideshare Driver
Do you really want to spend your days and nights driving other people around? Most of them having a better life than you? Many of them drunk and some aggressive. For less than minimum wage? It's not a sustainable online income for seniors, especially with no sick leave or income protection.
Not to mention the additional wear and tear on your car. Massive fuel costs, more frequent servicing, more frequent cleaning, higher government charges and lower resale value.
I know all about it. I've been there.
After 48 years in IT, I retired reasonably well off. But a combination of bad luck and bad decisions left me broke but already in my seventies. I did Uber driving for a year and a half, but when I looked at the extra cost, it just wasn't worth while. The last straw was when I got a bill for $1,210.20 to re-register my car and then realized that if I wasn't a rideshare driver, it came down to $730.15! Same for insurance and other charges. Plus I'd just had a massive service charge when a part failed because of the high mileage I'd been driving.
A Better Way

But then I found a better way.
A MUCH better way.
Using just my computer and an internet connection.
It's called Affiliate Marketing and I want to teach you how you can earn an extra income for retirees. And get started without it costing you a cent!
If you've got questions about affiliate marketing, I've got lots of answers for you at Affiliate Marketing: Your Questions Answered.
But before we get into affiliate marketing and how you can earn a lucrative retirement income from it and how you can bring your retirement forward by many years, let me ask you another question. And it's one that everyone contemplating retirement in the near future or, in fact, anyone who's already in retirement but facing a tight financial future. And that's...
What Sort of Retirement Do You Want?

This is a question you need to be pondering now.
Are you facing the sort of retirement (or already be in one) where you run out of money the day before your pension check is due to arrive, where you have to scrimp on essentials and do without luxuries completely and can't afford to give your grand-children the sort of Christmas and birthday presents that make their eyes light up?
Wouldn't you prefer a retirement where money (or the lack of it) isn't an issue, where you can treat yourself and your loved ones to luxuries whenever you like and can take vacations to exotic destinations as a regular thing?
All because you have an online income.
One that keeps on coming whether you work on it or not.
One that keeps on coming while you're asleep.
And while you're on vacation.
A Real Business
Make no mistake. This is not a get-rich-quick scheme.
It's not another Internet scam.
But you can use it to build an online income for seniors. An extra income for retirees.
You will be building a real business. Just like a good bricks and mortar business, it will provide you with a substantial income and further down the track, can even be sold for a nice capital gain.
Just as a guide, an affiliate marketing website making $3,000 a month can be sold through an Internet business broker for around $100,000 dollars. And you can do this over and over again if you want.
Just like a bricks and mortar business, you have to put some effort into it to start it off and get it up and running. You have to address your customers' wants and needs. You have to learn how to make your website, which is your online storefront, attractive and compelling. You must learn how to get highly ranked in search engines like Google and Bing.
The Good News

The good news is that, unlike a bricks and mortar business, your online income for seniors like yourselves requires no large capital outlay to get started. In fact, keep reading to find out how you can get your online affiliate marketing business up and running totally for free!
And I will also show you how you can be taken by the hand and led step by step through each part of the process.
An Online Income for Seniors Using Affiliate Marketing
What is affiliate marketing?
Start off with the fact that there is a massive amount of online buying and selling. It's a trillion dollar industry.
As well as the major players like Amazon and eBay, there are hundreds of thousands of online sellers from products like $9.95 e-books to high end cameras, coffee machines and home gymnasiums coming in at thousands of dollars.
There are blanket affiliate platforms like ClickBank, JVZoo and Warrior Plus that sell thousands of downloadable digital products. Because their delivery costs are more or less zero, their commission rates are high, typically 50% to 70%.
It's easy to get accepted.
However, you really need to do due diligence on the product before promoting one, as the quality can be extremely variable. I can help with that. There are certain metrics that you need to be aware of.
In addition, there are a large number of private companies selling their physical products on the internet and many of them have affiliate schemes.
If you are a registered affiliate, you can promote their products and earn a commission when someone buys their product through your link. And while the commission rate will be lower than someone like ClickBank, the product will be higher priced, more up market and easy to research.
Who fulfils the product? They do.
Who handles any customer issues? They do.
All you do is promote the product and get paid for every sale.
Is It Difficult to Become an Affiliate Marketer?

You can achieve a life-changing online income for seniors with affiliate marketing.
But is it hard to get into?
Well, like many things, the answer is... it depends.
If you don't have a step by step guide, yes. It's difficult to get into and even if you work out how to select a niche and how to build a website and apply successfully to become an affiliate for the merchants supplying your niche, there's still no guarantee of success.
But with a step by step guide and as much help as you need whenever you need it, the whole thing becomes inevitable.

I almost did lyft and uber myself not too long ago and I kept coming across nightmares such as your experience in wear and tear plus the hidden costs. I knew about affiliate marketing from years past but until I too became a member of Wealthy Affiliate I did not know just what it meant to be an affiliate marketer. This is one of the best sustainable businesses I have found. I will agree with you in my personal experience anyone that is looking into financing retirement without worry and actually being able to enjoy retirement they will want to check out this awesome opportunity. Not only is it financially rewarding it is time freedom and it can be passively sustainable for years to come.
Thank you for those comments, Cathy. It’s unfortunately true that Uber and Lyft have massive hidden costs that reduce your income substantially. And they are developing some bad reputations in other ways too. A young girl was recently raped and murdered by a man posing as her Uber driver. He activated the child-proof door locks after she got in the car and then drove to a deserted area. It’s not something you want to be associated with in any way at all.
I’m so glad to hear that your experience with Wealthy Affiliate has been similar to mine. It’s a great community to be part of and the training is second to none.
As you say, being an affiliate marketer is both financially rewarding and gives you time freedom. Sustainability is key as well.
As a senior citizen myself, this article was particularly timely and useful. Unfortunately, there are many people that have not had the opportunity or perhaps the foresight to make sure that they will have the money they need when they retire. Also, health expenses may have eaten away at their savings, or other family issues and unforeseen circumstances may have come into play too.
There is any number of reasons but it is good that in the days of the internet, there are solutions as well that were not there a few decades ago. Personally, I do have some residual income coming in from several sources, but nonetheless, I choose to stay active and working. I have had too many colleagues that pass away quickly when they stop all activities. I think this should not be a goal of retirement.
So in looking for some activities that provide you a sense of productivity while earning some extra or needed money, you have a multitude of options. Things like becoming an Uber or Lyft driver, as you tried, initially seem like ideal solutions, but it can also go south, as happened to you.
Time, money, stress all are costs you must factor into anything you might take on. Not being in your twenties, thirties, or forties means that the energy levels will not be there either. This is why I can agree with your suggestion to consider affiliate marketing.
Myself, I started about 4 years ago and used the platform you suggest (Wealthy Affiliate) to learn the ropes. It has been a long journey, as you mention (success does not happen overnight) but most certainly there are advantages over other options that make it an obvious choice (for me anyway).
Actually, I have expanded my online reach from affiliate marketing to other areas of online business as well, and now have several streams of income in addition to the affiliate marketing. This has kept me busy (but not too busy) and engaged, and I know it is a lot less stressful than many jobs out there open to seniors.
Having said all this, affiliate marketing is an excellent start to online business, and over time it can provide a sizeable income that can augment your other retirement income while working from the comforts of your home. I would recommend it and also the Wealthy Affiliate platform as the best place to learn how to do it. Even someone having no experience online can learn using this platform.
Thanks for a thought-provoking article and the great suggestions you have included. I am sure that anyone that stops by will be helped by reading this and perhaps their lives will be changed in a positive manner if they decide to take action!
Yes, Dave, with all the advances in medicine and increased knowledge to make better and healthier lifestyle choices, people are now retiring with another twenty five or thirty years of life ahead of them. And how well they enjoy those years depends very much on the retirement planning that they have put in place.
As you say, many of them haven’t really done much planning at all and so are looking for additional income sources. Many of those that are available come with their own costs in terms of stress and energy levels.
It’s interesting that you say you got into affiliate marketing about 4 years ago using Wealthy Affiliate. That’s actually much longer than I’ve been involved, so it’s particularly gratifying to me that you’ve had such a positive and rewarding experience over that longer period of time.
In my original article, I didn’t want to cover other areas of internet marketing that you can branch into as I thought it might confuse those without experience, but you are so right. I myself have 2 e-commerce stores selling physical products in addition to my affiliate websites.
But affiliate marketing is without doubt the place to start.
And there is no better platform than Wealthy Affiliate. Any one who joins and applies the step by step training has to succeed.
This is the reason I joined Wealthy Affiliate, to have more income during retirement and to also work on paying down some debt until I do retire, which should be about 10 more years.
I have also heard the stories about Uber and Lyft, so sad about what happened recently.
I hope you are enjoying your retirement!
Anita
Thanks, Anita. I am enjoying retirement immensely, but very glad to have stopped driving for Uber. Rideshare was a great idea but governments couldn’t leave it alone and now the low-lifes are moving in.
I’m much happier working from home as an affiliate marketer. And Wealthy Affiliate has great training and comprises a wonderful supporting community.
As a senior who retired early, I started doing volunteer work but soon got bored with the postings that were available (usually all the dirty work). I started looking online and found this program about 3 months ago and have have been enjoying learning how to take advantage of this system.
There is so much to learn. It is definitely not a get-rich-quick scheme. But there are so many resources available at your fingertips or through all the other members of this community. As a matter of fact, most people here refer to it as a Family, not just a community. We all encourage each other and root for the other person to succeed because we know how wide-ranging this business can be. There is room for everyone to do well in this industry. The possibilities are only limited by how much work you want to do.
I had been wasting most of the day until I found this program. Not only is it fun to learn all this backdoor stuff, it is exciting to be building my own website and, I hope one day, have it become profitable.
I am very grateful not to have to become an Uber or Lyft driver. Gasoline in my city is going up to $1.70 per litre and it would cost me more money than I could make at it.
For anyone on the fence about whether this is the program for you, it costs nothing for the 1st week, then only $19 for the next month. This is more than enough time to discover whether you like this program or not. I am a very skeptical person and took that whole time to make my decision but I have not regretted joining this group.
Thank you for all that information, Jean. It was good to hear your story. Uber driving here (we don’t have Lyft) is very expensive, not so much the fuel as all the State government imposed extra licenses, vehicle inspections etc. Not to mention the hidden cost of depreciation on your vehicle.
WA is a great program. A family as you say. And, while you need to go Premium to get all the benefits, you can remain a free member as long as you like, not just the first week.
Hey Phil
Man I’m impressed as I am 10 years younger than you and feel daunted by this – hats off to you my friend, I will be following closely.
Can I ask:
1. how long it took you to get your first sale?
2. How long it took to make a viable income?
Cheers
Lawrence
Thanks, Lawrence. It took me just a few weeks to get the first sale, but I’d say it was a fluke.
The more common experience is 6 months to the first sale, then it gradually builds up to a viable income after maybe another 6 months.
It’s a business and you have to work on it.
I have 3 websites, with 2 more under development.
